I agree, the world needs more Morishima. We have some stories in the works at YP and I really hope Lililicious will pick up office romance again one day.

I really love this manga and Morishima's work. She's my favorite mangaka i think. Good stories, argument, art. I grow up with Hanjuku Joshi, honestly. It help me to see that love and sexuality are together in a very sweet and natural way and it has to be discover with your partner step by step. So, that's why i love this manga.

This showed up on the random chapter for me today, so I read it over again. This is probably my all-time favorite. Very cute. Also, it's the only yuri manga I've read that portrays scissoring accurately - difficult and impossible to achieve!
The way the relationship progresses is beautiful and the dialogue definitely gives a warm, fluffy feeling.

Morishima is quite good at pacing the story in Hanjuku Joshi. There have been more than a few mangaka who go past 5 chapters and the story lines start needlessly meandering for shiggles.

Yeah, this is one of those manga that are just note perfect throughout. A great beginning, a great middle and a great end.
Posts like this are kinda evil, making me reread this once again (god knows how many times it's been now ;p).
Altough it did make me wonder if it really deserves the "lots of sex" tag, altough yes it is quite smutty it's not really porny in the sense that i associate with that tag. (I've already suggested a tag change)

It totally is a classic. I've read it over quite a few times. It's my favorite story by Morishima.

I never noticed this before (and I've read this about a thousand times), but take a look at page 118:
http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/hanjuku_joshi_ch08#2
At the end of the page, Yae gets upset at Chitose for coming into the hall in just her underwear. But if you look two panels earlier, Chitose is clearly wearing a shirt and tie. Quick change artist!

That is indeed odd. Maybe she was in the process of changing while they were talking, or maybe it really is an error. It looks like they were in the process of changing into their uniforms though, so Chitose wouldn't have a reason to be undressed at that point. It's a bit hard to tell though

The more times I read this, the more I'm interested in the Mari/Ran couple over the Chitose/Yae couple. In some ways, they seem more interesting.

I actually often find the side couples in Morishima Akiko's manga more interesting than the main ones. In Holy Girl Paradigm, for example, I'm more interested in finding out about the two girls in the student council than the main couple.
Me too, but the fact that they're actually in a lesbian relationship helps a lot in that case.
I mean, it's not like Chitose and Yae aren't interesting. They definitely are. It's just I've become fascinated by Mari and Ran and wish there was more of them coming to find common ground.
For the record, I think the "this is not the body" scene is one of Morishima's best.

Strongly agree. It's here, for anyone looking around for it.
I very much like how the tone of the series slowly moves toward identification, especially in the second volume. The line that opens up chapter 17 is exceptional in that regard.
As I completed another re-read of this, I was inevitably reminded of Angelic Girl's little counter to the scissoring bit. It's possible after all!

Re-read this and my, is it good.
Only gripe I have is Yae's design, who looks a bit too baby-ish, but other than that, the story and the characters are so warm and fluffy, I get all emotional and teary-eyed. Sex scenes are never forced and go well with the flow of the story, so I don't really mind them.
I like that between Yae and Chitose, the "roles" gets blurred as their relationship progress, Chitose showing more of her girly side and Yae more of her assertive side. They don't have to conform to the het standard roles, they love each other because they are both girls.
Every chapter 1st image, with the comment, is perfect, because it shows how the characters really are growing.
Both lesbian couples are completely different and interesting in their own right. Yae and Chitose take it in strides, whereas Ran and Mari are more chaotic and self-conscious, but their stories are told in a most skillful way.
I can't help but smile and wish to the character all the happiness in the world.
We need more of Morishima-sensei work in this world.
